What is Raw Water?
What is Raw Water?
A common trend in many third world contrived is the concept of drinking "Raw Water". This term refers to untreated feed water that is found in its natural state before any treatment. This type of concept comes from the notion that Mother Earth does the best filtering.
It is recommended that the daily intake of water for men is 3.7 liters and 2.7 liters for women. A family of four should be drinking 3.38 gal per day and 26.3 gal per week.
It can be true that spring feed water can be of high quality. Raw water is a marketable product when clients are concerned about the water they have been at their tap. Often chlorine, and Fluoride are in many municipal water systems both naturally occurring and manmade sources. Pharmaceutical drugs in our water system is also a growing concern. Some medications/fertilizers and pesticides cannot be filtered out of water. Alternatively, well owners should be aware that contamination of nitrates, arsenic from old or poorly constructed wells should be considered.
The concept that "raw water" can carry healthy microbes, probiotics, and minerals that can aid in healthier physical and mental characteristics. "Raw Water" can also harbor harmful bacteria, and levels of minerals that need to be monitored over long-term use or harmful with babies and the elderly.
We encourage all well owners to have their water tested by the university or a highly reputable company that is not focused on selling treatment systems. This would require a sample of water supplied in a timely fashion for a full analysis, even checking for traces of radiation as we have many of the worlds uranium mines located in Saskatchewan. Considering it is the water you intend to bath in, brush your teeth with and cook with.
We have used and continue to use water in the "raw" in some circumstances and advise all clients to learn about their water before making a decision.
